Making homemade baby food is way easier than you think. Every time I make some I get lots of questions on how I did it, soooooooo I thought I’d share my super, easy, and fun way to make healthy baby food.
Today we are making Peas, and look at those beautiful, bright, green peas! Jarred peas in the baby food isle are NOT that pretty!
Step 1: Start with an Organic Fruit or Vegetable
Step 2: Boil until tender. (For sweet potatoes, sometimes I just cook until soft in the microwave. Cut it in half, place it on a plate and then check it about every 2 min until soft and mashable).
Step 3: Blend until you have your desired consistency. I dilute mine with a little water, so the vegetable won’t be so thick. I use this handy dandy stick blender.
Step 4: Once you have your desired consistency, place into your cups or trays. I use THESE, and I Love them! Some people use ice cube trays, freeze them, then pop them out when needed. I like the oxo Baby Food blocks because they have a lid and are easy to take on-the-go. They are BPA, phthalate and PVC free so you can easily pop them in the microwave for a minute or so to thaw the food…. so easy!
Step 5: Once you have the food placed in your desired cups, let them cool, place the lids on securely and place in your freezer. Everyday I take one out and put it in the fridge, then at dinner time, pop in microwave to warm and Ta-Da Dinner!
This process can easily be done for sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, green beans, apples, blueberries, pears….. Endless possibilities! Your babies will love it – Have fun!
